Application
DIN Abrasion Tester is used to determine wear performance test of materials like elastic material, rubber, tires, conveyor belts, conveyor belts, shoe soles.
The Rubber DIN Abrasion Tester GT-KB03 conforms to several international standards, including DIN 53516, ISO 4649, and ASTM D5963. By using the Rubber DIN Abrasion Tester GT-KB03, rubber manufacturers can ensure that their products meet the necessary quality and durability standards, and that they will perform well under normal use conditions. The instrument is a valuable tool for rubber manufacturers, quality control departments, and testing laboratories.
Principle
Rotary drum abrasion tester under certain touching pressure and contact area, sample becomes a certain angle with sandpaper and determine its abrasion performance caused by a certain level of sandpaper. Pack sandpaper outside the surface of roller. The sample is pressed against the roller with sandpaper, which makes sample lateral moving along roller. Abrasion is caused under the other side of cylindrical specimens measuring the mass loss of sample value and count the wear amount by sample density.

A DIN abrasion tester for rubber is an instrument designed to measure the wear resistance of rubber materials. The tester assesses how much material is worn away when the rubber is subjected to abrasive conditions. This is crucial for determining the durability and lifespan of rubber products like tires, conveyor belts, and shoe soles.
To test for abrasion on rubber, a sample is cut to specified dimensions and placed against sandpaper on a rotating drum. The sample is pressed against the sandpaper with a controlled force and at a specified angle. As the drum rotates, the sample moves laterally, causing abrasion. The wear resistance is measured by calculating the mass loss of the sample after a set period, which indicates the material's durability.
What is the ASTM standard for DIN abrasion tester?
The ASTM standard relevant to DIN abrasion testing is ASTM D5963. This standard outlines the procedures for measuring the abrasion resistance of rubber, ensuring consistency and accuracy in test results across different laboratories and industries.
What is the difference between ISO 4649 and DIN 53516?
ISO 4649 and DIN 53516 are both international standards for measuring the abrasion resistance of rubber. The main difference lies in their specific procedures and requirements:
ISO 4649: This standard specifies two methods (A and B) for determining the abrasion resistance of rubber. Method A involves using a cylindrical test piece, while Method B uses a test piece shaped as a strip. The test involves a rotating drum covered with abrasive paper.
DIN 53516: This standard is similar to ISO 4649 Method A but has some differences in the specific conditions and parameters used during testing. Both standards aim to provide reliable measurements of rubber wear resistance, but manufacturers and testing laboratories might choose one standard over the other based on their specific requirements or regional preferences.
What features make the Rubber DIN Abrasion Tester GT-KB03 user-friendly?
The Rubber DIN Abrasion Tester GT-KB03 is equipped with a digital counter that automatically stops the machine after the test is completed, ensuring accurate and consistent results. Additionally, its body is processed with paint baking, making it easy to maintain and enhancing its durability.
How do you prepare a sample for testing on the Rubber DIN Abrasion Tester GT-KB03?
To prepare a sample for testing, it must be cut to specific dimensions according to the rubber abrasion testing machines guidelines. The sample is then placed against the sandpaper on the rotating drum, ensuring proper pressure and contact area. Following these steps ensures accurate and reliable test results.
What information can be obtained from the test results?
The test results provide data on the material's wear resistance, including the amount of mass loss due to abrasion. This information is crucial for quality control, product development, and comparing different materials' performance under similar conditions.
